You have prepared an amazing website for your company, products, or services. Great visuals, perfect content strategy, and a smooth information architecture that fits your target audience. Now it is time to bring visitors in.

Today, search engines are arguably the best ways to reach a new audience. So you did all the optimizations required to show up on the first page. Even you ended up spending some money on it. Will it be enough?

Well, we have done some research on it!

Digital Maturity in Asia

Socioeconomic status is an important factor that affects an individual’s exposure to technology and so the adoption of the new technologies.

We have seen this as a pattern in our studies. For example, we found Singapore is a few years ahead of Thailand, and Thailand is a few years ahead of Indonesia on adopting some of the trends like adoption of Face ID and Fingerprint.

Before we jump onto the findings, it is important to talk about the “digital maturity” levels of your target audience. We found that users behaviors change drastically depending on their exposure to the digital world.

Alright, below are a few interesting points we have found.

  • Headers are very important: We have analyzed the eye-tracking data and found that, the majority of the participants scan thru the headers, before reading any descriptions. So be creative!
  • Pace your AdWords spend: In the digitally mature markets, participants tend to skip the ads on the search results without reading. Check analytics closely to see what works for you.
  • Being on the top is overrated: We found that most clicked results are seldom the top ones. Participants have their own algorithms to decide what would be useful for them before spending time and energy to open any link offered by the search engines.
  • Being on the bottom is not good too: While being on the top is not adding value, many participants never scroll down to the end of the page.
